Legendary House DJs at L'Abarset: A Look at the Best Artists

L'Abarset, in the heart of the Pyrenees, has become a real sanctuary for house and electronic music lovers. Not only does this club offer a unique après-ski experience, it has also been the venue for legendary sessions with some of the most iconic house and tech house DJs on the world scene. 
 

Iconic House names in L'Abarset  

Below, we explore the key house artists who have left their mark in this temple of music. 

Hernan Cattaneo    

Hernan Cattaneo, a master of progressive house, has charmed the public with this ability to create sets that are real trips. His music career, spanning more than three decades, has seen him dominate both large-scale festivals and intimate clubs, always maintaining a cathartic musical narrative. Cattaneo is known for carefully selecting his tracks and for his ability to mix soft, melodic sounds with deep, enveloping rhythms: every one of his house DJ sessions is a work of art in itself, keeping the public in a state of trance and euphoria, which is exactly what happened in his latest Brunch Electronik. 
 

Los Suruba 

The Suruba, consisting of Delmar and Alvaro, have truly established their position as two key names on the house and techno scene. With their distinctive sound mixing house, techno and deep house, they create an unforgettable atmosphere in every one of their parties. Their record label, NAZCA, is known for releasing innovative hits, famous the world over. At L'Abarset, the Suruba have made a special connection with the public, making each show a hypnotic experience. The latest one, a NAZCA showcase, also involved other artists from the same recording label.  
 

Wally Lopez 

Known for his funky house style, Wally López’s hallmark are his sets of positive energy and vibes. From Spain originally, Wally has pioneered the national house scene, taking his music all over the world. His shows mix house classics with new gems, keeping the dance floor moving in full flow. For some time he has been considered one of the best house DJs, and every Wally Lopez party is a celebration of music and life. 
 

BJones     

BJones has taken his charisma and energy to another level, fusing house classics with the latest trends. His career took off quickly thanks to his ability to read the dance floor and keep the public constantly moving. Since then, BJones has conquered hundreds of international venues, and he was even the first Spanish DJ to perform on the Tomorrowland mainstage (this year he is repeating the experience). His ability to handle large crowds and keep energy levels high throughout the night has established his position as currently one of the best house DJs. 
 

Lunnas 

The Lunnas duo, the talented Spanish DJs Andrea and Patri, have influences ranging from classic house to tech house. They have performed at important events like the Medusa Festival and Arenal Sound, consolidating their position as leading names on the scene. Their energy and passion for music are obvious in every one of their sets, making every night with Lunnas a unique experience. They currently hold weekly residency in Pacha Ibiza.  
 

Les Castizos     

From Malaga originally and known for their steam-rolling energy and eclectic style, Les Castizos, the duo made up of Víctor Rojas and Fali Sotomayor, has conquered the house scene with their ability to mix genres and keep energy levels at a high. They have held residency in Pachá La Pineda and have performed in leading festivals such as Dreambeach and A Summer Story. Their sets are an explosion of sounds ranging from the most classical house to the latest tech house. 
 

Natalie Blume     

Natalie Blume has emerged as one of the most promising house DJs. Hailing from Germany, Blume has taken her music to international venues, including acts in the Berlin Music Week and the Amsterdam Dance Event. With her innate ability to read the public and select the perfect tracks, Natalie has confirmed her position as a force to be reckoned with on the international house scene. She is currently resident in Destino Ibiza, sharing the show with other acts from both outside and inside Spain.  

 

Tech House in its maximum expression 

Tech house has also found its ideal venue at L'Abarset, where some of the genre’s most influential artists have performed. 
 

Marco Carola

Marco Carola, a tech house legend, turns each set into a masterpiece. His ability to mix fluently and keep hypnotic energy levels at their peak for hours is what makes each performance a unique experience. During the 22-23 season, Marco Carola was one of the most sought-after artists, and his masterful art of mixing exceeded his fans’ expectations. 

Franky Rizardo

Franky Rizardo, comes from the Netherlands originally, yet he has taken the sound of his irresistible beats and grooves to world venues, highlighting his performances in the tech house scene, releases under well-known labels like Defected and a residency in the popular Defected Croatia festival. Now, his radio program "Flow" has been influential in spreading this genre all over the world. 

Fedele

Fedele, with his state-of-the-art sound, captures the tech house scene in every one of his parties. As a member of the famous group, Agents Of Time, he has performed in some of the world’s leading festivals, like the Awakenings and DGTL, consolidating his reputation as one of the best in the genre. 

Sara de Araujo

Originally from Portugal, Sara de Araujo has DJed on international stages like the BPM Festival and leading clubs in Ibiza. Her melodic, rhythmical sets create an experience that leaves everyone in a state of euphoria. Sara is also known for her productions under labels such as Flashmob Records, where she has left her mark as one of the leading Portuguese talents of the last decade. 

Miss Monique

Possibly considered the best-known female progressive house DJ in Europe, Miss Monique from Ukraine has performed hundreds of sets on a global level, recently gaining major importance on the international circuit. Thanks to her work with labels such as Black Hole Recordings and her "Mind Games" podcast series, Miss Monique is very close to her public. Her performances at L'Abarset have provided unforgettable moments in the club’s program, in the Brunch Electronik line up, together with Jan Blomqvist.  

John Digweed

With a career spanning more than three decades, Digweed is known for his technical precision and his ability to create a journey in every party, which keeps the audience in a state of trance. Digweed has been one of the main names in events like the Ultra Music Festival and Tomorrowland, and his Brunch session in the Snow at L'Abarset was sold out last season, demonstrating his great popularity and appeal. 
 

Hector Couto  

Hailing from Spain, Héctor Couto has performed in major festivals and clubs like Elrow and the BPM Festival. Fans and critics alike have loved his mixture of tech house and hints of classical house, establishing his reputation as one of the most influential in this genre. With his releases under labels like Hot Creations and Moon Harbour, every Couto party is an explosion of energy and rhythm. 

Layla Benitez

Layla Benitez, daughter of famous DJ Jellybean Benítez, has been part of the line up in numerous festivals and clubs, including major events like the Burning Man and Art Basel. Her unique style and connection with the public make her an influential DJ on the rise on the tech house scene. She is currently in the many line-ups in Afterlife.  

Anna Tur

Anna Tur, from Ibiza, has captured the public’s attention with her powerful, melodic sets. With parents linked to the world of radio, she grew up surrounded by music, which deeply influenced her style. She can create an immersive atmosphere with her music and shows great skill in selecting tracks that strike a deep cord with her audiences, making Anna Tur a leading name on the house and tech house scene. She works with Carl Cox, and is currently on the numerous line-ups next to this famous artist.  

Rafa Barrios

Rafa Barrios, from Sevilla, is known for his deep grooves and tribal rhythms. From the outset on the local scene, Barrios has been gaining international acclaim thanks to his talent for fusing these elements with tech house. He has released his music under leading labels like Toolroom and Stereo Productions, and has been publically acclaimed by well-known names like Carl Cox and Richie Hawtin. 

Manu Gonzalez

Manu Gonzalez, from Ibiza, started his career at an early age, influenced by the island’s rich musical scene. His ability to create innovative sets, full of energy has made him one of the public’s favourites. Manu Gonzalez has shown that he is a master in mixing different house and tech house genres, offering an incredible experience in each set. This was already obvious in 2016 when he won the award for the Best DJ New Comer in the Ibiza DJ Awards. Currently, he has strong links with Defected, and is resident in their events this season (2024) in Ibiza. 

Arodes

Arodes, DJ and producer with roots in Spain, has a unique style that combines tech house with elements of progressive house: as anyone who has been to his shows at L'Abarset can tell you: a delight for fans of this genre. Arodes has worked with labels such as Crosstown Rebels and has taken part in iconic events like Burning Man, a sign of his growing influence in this global electronic scene. He combines his international tours with his residency in Playa Soleil in Ibiza, alongside Andrea Oliva.  

Cuartero

Cuartero from Malaga began his career at 15 and quickly made a name for himself on the national house and tech house scene. He has released tracks with labels like Hot Creations and Desolat, and has been awarded the prize for Best Tech House Artist in the DJ Awards de Ibiza. With a precise mixture of tech house and melodic house, Cuartero knows how to keep the audience in a state of constant ecstasy. 

Silvie Loto

Silvie Loto, was born in Italy and from the outset on the Italian underground scene, she has skilfully mixed different genre of tech house to surprise and delight everyone. She has performed in well-known festivals and clubs like DC10 in Ibiza, and has released music under labels like Bpitch Control. Her ability to read the dance floor and offer a unique musical narrative have made her famous worldwide. She is part of the leading artists label Solid Gooves and is taking part in virtually all their events this summer, every Thursday on DC10.  

Melanie Ribbe

Melanie Ribbe takes her fresh, vibrant style to each set. Trained in classical music, she is also deeply in love with house and tech house, and her sets are a mixture of innovation and pure energy. She has performed in iconic clubs like Pacha, Amnesia, Ushuaia and Hi in Ibiza, and her music has been released under well-known labels like Moon Harbour. 

Edu Imbernon

Edu Imbernon, the Spanish DJ and producer, is a regular feature at the Brunch Electronik that is now part of the L’Abarset family. Recently he has set up his own label, Fayer, and has worked with artists of the calibre of The XX, Depeche Mode, Bastille and Metronomy. Edu is known for his ability to tell a story through his music, keeping the audience hooked from the very first beat to the last. He is currently working on his new project in band format “imbermind”. 

Rendher

Rendher, the Spanish DJ and emerging producer, is introducing his state-of-the-art style on to the house and tech house scene. He has released music with labels like Solid Grooves and Elrow Music, and his talent has been recognised by influential artists such as Jamie Jones, Loco Dice and Paco Osuna. 

In short, L'Abarset has seen some of the best house and tech house sessions in recent years, with artists who are part of a wave of musicians who are transforming a diverse scene, ranging from progressive house to funky house. This list of talent shows that each one of these DJs has contributed to making L’Abarset the temple of electronic music that we know today.
